OliGa - September/October 2018
Born in 1992 and passionate about art ever since, Olivier "OliGa" Ganthier comes to San Clemente from Pètionville, Haiti. He grew up drawing and painting in his father's studio and received his degree in fine arts from Haiti's only university level institution devoted to arts education, the National School of Arts (ENARTS). His continuing education includes workshops in digital art and 3-D modeling at Graphcity, a leading Graphic Design company in Haiti.
Inspired by tropical urban life and Afro and Haitian culture, his afropop modern stylings are bright, colorful, and vibrant. OliGa practices contemporary figuration through digital art, painting, and street art. His work can be found internationally in Los Angeles, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Belgium, as well as in Miami's famed Wynwood Art District at Art Basel 2017, and an art car collaboration with Mazda in Haiti. OliGa is currently the art director at Les Ateliers Ganthier - Visual Arts Studio and is launching a clothing brand inspired by his art.
OliGa's tour in San Clemente included a turn at the south wall of House of Trestles, a dynamic new mural at Artifex Brewing Company as well as a custom surfboard design. He also participated in 2 group shows in Los Angeles, "Labor of Love" at ArtShare LA and Art in LA Affair presented by AC Gallery.
