San Francisco

HUSKYROUNDUP  - January, February, March 2018

San Francisco based art and skate legend Mike Kershnar arrived Jan. 1 for a three-month residency at Street Artist in Residence that focused on surf culture and daily life at San Onofre State Beach's world-famous surf breaks. Kershnar, an established painter, illustrator, photographer and skateboarder who grew up in Orange County and surfed Trestles regularly was excited to return to his roots at the beach.

After completing a vibrant mural for SAiR's alley beautification project in South Side San Clemente, Mike went right to work on his solo show at Gallery 1315 entitled CALAFIA an Art/Skate/Musical/Nature Odyssey of epic proportions. Mike's massive body of work included original paintings, skateboards, an enormous mural, an altar, a collection of hand-drawn stickers from international graff legends, skateable structures, and two live bands. Mike's homecoming to SoCal was nothing short of triumphant.

Many, many thanks to all who made this show a raging success: Two by Four Miniramps, Kamikaze Co Pilot Cobra ManArtifex Brewing Company, San Clemente Skate Coalition, and our amazing crew of Street Artist in Residence volunteers.
